Toys R Us is one of the world's largest toy retailers, selling its wares in more than 1,600 stores in the US and worldwide, as well as online. In addition to about 600 US namesake stores selling toys, games, and other items for kids, Toys "R" Us sells infant and toddler apparel, furniture, and feeding supplies at some 270 Babies R Us stores in more than 40 states.

CHALLENGE

Toys R Us opens a chain of temporary stores for the holiday season. Their goal is to have these small temporary stores have a similar visual appeal as the larger permanent stores. They accomplish this by using various signage and displays printed with the Toys R Us colors and logo. Keeping cost down is a big concern since these are temporary stores and all the signage is disposed of at the end of the season.

In the past, each store received fifty 38” x 50”, 3/16” foam-core overstock panels. These panels attached to the top of the temporary shelving that went around the perimeter of the store. The problem was that these panels did not connect to one another and there was no mechanism to prevent them from leaning forward. As a result, the panels were leaning forward and not flush with one another, which was not the look they wanted to achieve.

SOLUTION

We designed a patent pending panel made of corrugate that easily attached to the shelf with a few plastic zip ties and connected to one another with twin stick. The panel was designed so that it would easily fold & lock on the top and both sides to prevent the panels from leaning forward. The folded sides and top provided structure to keep the panels upright and prevent warping. The result was a professional, finished appearance.

BENEFITS

• Cost Savings: Corrugate is a less expensive option.

• Easy to install.

• Eco Friendly: Corrugate is recyclable.

• Greatly improved the stores' visual appearance.
